What is hypnosis?

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, your hypnotist assists you in reaching an altered state of consciousness a little like sleep, but not sleep. In hypnosis it becomes easier to connect with the unconscious mind in order to harness its innate power to enable one to facilitate behavioural and emotional changes more easily.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes, if you have ever daydreamed, you can be hypnotised. I am sure that there have been occasions where you have drifted into your own little world and have not noticed that someone has entered or left the room. Your conscious mind is not fully awake at these times, which means that your unconscious mind is able to do its work, without questioning why or how. This is how your unconscious mind works its magic in hypnosis, it just KNOWS what to do and one does not have to worry about one's conscious mind hindering the process with its why and how questions, thus making it more powerful, lining you up for success.

Can anyone make you do something that you do not want to in hypnosis?

No, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Your hypnotist is there to help you to get into the perfect, relaxed state to facilitate your unconscious minds ability yo initiate change effectively, without the interruption and questioning of your conscious mind. It is your own unconscious mind that does the work in achieving your desired goals and outcomes. So you may think, then why do I not just hypnotise myself? In order to do that, one would need to use ones conscious mind to give the suggestions. Your conscious mind likes what is familiar and comfortable, so it would be fighting against your unconscious minds ability to make these positive changes, as it would be resisting the changes suggested. When working on certain problems, one needs to 'shift' conscious links to particular memories, objects and habits. In hypnotherapy and NNRT/EDMR we can change and blur these links, in order that something may seem less traumatic or habitual after hypnosis. This would be impossible without another person (your hypnotist) guiding your thoughts.

What is NLP?

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a learning model devised by Dr Richard Bandler and John Grinder and it is not hypnotherapy, but is often used in conjunction with hypnotherapy and transformational coaching as a tool to facilitate positive changes.

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is a transformational process that helps people to identify and often exceed specific goals and outcomes that will catapult you into achieving your maximum potential.
